Dunster Pre-School provides children with a safe and stimulating environment. Our premises are welcoming and friendly to children, their parents/carers and any other visitors.

We offer sessions of care for children from the age of 2½ to 4 years and 10 months and is registered for a maximum of 20 children per session. The pre-school aims to enable children to develop and learn through play in a community based group.

The Pre-School has a good working relationship with Dunster First School and planned visits with Reception class staff have proved to be invaluable ensuring continuity and allowing the children to move into school with confidence.

Within the group all children are encouraged to develop their potential at their own pace. With our key worker system we can ensure a planned curriculum tailored to the needs of each individual child. Each child is offered the use of a wide variety of play materials giving them the opportunity to develop personal and social skills such as colour recognition, awareness of different textures, shape formation, creative expression, co-ordination and co-operation. Through play activities and materials and a high level of individual adult input, we are able to offer a curriculum, which leads to nationally approved early learning goals and prepares children to progress with confidence.

A Committee, a Pre-School manager and the staff run Dunster Pre-School. The committee is elected by pre-school parents at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) in the Autumn Term each year.

Dunster Pre-school is a member of the Pre-School Learning Alliance, a voluntary body that is registered as an educational charity.
